I finally stopped trying to run a big outdoor activation without a backup power plan
We had a pop-up in Denver last summer for a new energy drink, and the whole thing was built around these huge LED screens showing athlete clips. About two hours in, a freak storm rolled through and the main power grid on that block went down. Everything went black, the music cut, and we just had a bunch of wet, confused people standing around a dark tent. I had a small generator, but it was only for the payment system, not the main show. My team and I had to pivot fast. We grabbed all the product samples we had, got the brand ambassadors to start handing them out by the case, and turned it into an impromptu street team giveaway. We saved the day by making it about the product in your hand, not the screen in your face. It was messy, but we kept people engaged. Has anyone else had a tech fail that forced you back to basics like that?
