The itchy sweater I can't bring myself to throw out

It's from my early days installing fiberglass batts (back when we thought a bandana was enough for dust). We'd come home covered in fibers and just wash them out later, no big deal. Now, with whole suits and proper masks, the job feels way safer. What old habits have you seen fade away as gear got better?

Ugh, I used to think coughing up gray dust was just part of the job. My lungs probably still have some fiberglass in them from those days. Thank goodness for real safety gear now.

What other gear from back then makes you cringe now, like old tape measures that pinched or ladders that felt like they'd buckle? I mean @thea771 mentioning the gray dust really hits home, that was so normal. It's wild how we just accepted stuff like frayed extension cords in puddles or using our boots for grip instead of proper cleats. Maybe it's just me but seeing a new kid with a full face respirator really shows how far things have come.

Man, the lack of gear back then was wild. Glad that era is mostly gone now!
