Wasted $200 on pre-finished engineered hardwood. Never again.
Bought a bunch last month from a local supplier in Phoenix. Thought it would save time. But the finish was inconsistent on every plank. Had to cut and fit around bad spots for three days straight. Then half the edges chipped during installation. Anyone else get burned by pre-finished stuff like this?

Oh man, that sounds like a nightmare. I had almost the exact same thing happen with some pre-finished bamboo from a big box store. The finish looked okay in the box but once I laid it out, every other plank had these weird cloudy spots that wouldn't buff out. Then the edges started splintering while I was tapping them together. I ended up spending more time sorting through the junk than actually installing. Total waste.

Oh man, and the dust from cutting all that junk got into my coffee every morning too.

Damn, three days cutting around bad spots? That's brutal man. I would have lost my mind by day two. I've heard pre-finished stuff can be a gamble but that sounds like you got a really bad batch or something. Chipping on the edges during install too, that's just insult to injury. Makes you wonder if it sat in a hot warehouse too long or what.
