Tried using a heat gun to speed up adhesive drying in a cold basement
Set a small section of the subfloor on fire within 30 seconds and had to explain to the homeowner why there was a charred smell coming from under his new vinyl plank.

That "within 30 seconds" part is brutal. You barely had time to react before things went wrong. Heat guns are way too intense for that job. They're meant for stripping paint not drying glue. A cold basement already has moisture issues so the heat just made the adhesive vaporize and ignite. Lesson learned the hard way. Stick to a dehumidifier and patience next time.

Oh man, this is so true and it's honestly a pattern I've noticed everywhere lately. People just want results NOW without letting things happen naturally. Like how everyone on social media expects overnight success and quits if they don't go viral immediately. Same with relationships - people rush into big decisions because they can't sit with uncertainty for five minutes. Even in cooking, everyone wants the 30 minute meal but then complains it doesn't taste as good as grandma's slow cooked version. We've all gotten addicted to instant gratification and it's burning us in situations like this literally lol.
