Tried cutting laminate with a circular saw on a jobsite and it went sideways fast
Was doing a kitchen in Renton last Tuesday and figured I'd save time by using the homeowner's circular saw instead of hauling my miter saw up two flights of stairs. Thing kicked back so hard the blade chipped a huge chunk out of the plank and sent it flying into a cabinet door. Has anyone else had a close call like that with a saw you didn't know?

Had a buddy who tried cutting laminate with a jigsaw cause his circular was dead. Ended up with a cut that looked like a zigzag and a massive splinter up his thumbnail. Still brings it up every time someone mentions flooring.

Rough break, that kickback can come out of nowhere when you're using an unfamiliar saw. Hope the cabinet wasn't too banged up.

A buddy of mine had the exact same thing happen last summer, @the_patricia, except his saw kicked back and the board flew right into his garage door (total wreck). He still jokes about how the dent matches the shape of his miter saw blade. Cabinet might be okay, but that garage door was definitely a write-off.
