The day I realized my chalk line was costing me hours
Was laying a herringbone pattern in a big kitchen and my lines kept drifting. The homeowner, a retired engineer, pointed out my chalk box spool was bent, putting down a wobbly 3/16-inch curve I couldn't even see. Anyone else have a simple tool failure that caused a major headache?

Oh man, I saw a video about that exact thing! A bent spool will throw off your line every time.

Ever check your chalk line for a bent reel before you start?

Honestly used to think that was overkill until a snapped line wasted a whole morning. Now it's the first thing I check, like putting on a seatbelt. A tiny bend you can barely see will mess up the feed every single time. That one simple habit saves so much frustration later. Changed my whole routine.
