That time my uncle Billy told me to just slap down the plank without clicking it first and I laughed at him until I tried it on a tricky corner and it worked perfectly

Ran into a nightmare spot near a fireplace hearth last Wednesday and his old school method of cutting the tongue off and face nailing the last row saved me from having to tear out three whole rows of laminate.

Four inches from my baseboard heater. That's how tight the gap was. Billy's tongue-off trick slid right in with zero drama. Sometimes you just gotta trust the old ways over the instruction booklet.

But doesn't forcing it down like that risk chipping the edge or messing up the locking system down the road? I always thought those clicks were there for a reason, not just to make things complicated...

Oh man, my dad always said the same thing - "just smack it in and quit overthinking." I spent two hours trying to slot a piece perfectly last weekend and finally rage-slammed it down like he showed me, went right in. Sometimes you just gotta trust the old guys even when it feels wrong.
