That "looked like a toddler did it" line hits home, @casey_harris. I've been there, and uneven slabs are the worst. What was the old timer's trick for getting it right?

Forget the scribe for a second. Look at the wall itself. Is it actually plumb or is it leaning out at the top? I've saved myself a headache by checking that first with a long level. Sometimes you're trying to match a shape that's already wrong, and that's why the cut looks off. If the wall bows, you might need to shim the board out from the studs before you even trace.
