Tried a silent disco for a tech launch versus a regular DJ and the results were wild

We had a product launch in Chicago last month and our team was split on the after-party vibe. Half wanted a classic DJ with big speakers, the other half pushed for a silent disco where everyone wears headphones. We did a small test run with both at a pre-event, maybe 50 people. The silent disco won by a mile, lol. People could actually talk and network without shouting, and the three different music channels let folks pick their own vibe. The DJ set just turned into a loud mess where no one could hear each other. The client said they got way more real feedback and leads from the headphone crowd. Has anyone else tried switching up the audio format for a networking mixer and seen a big change in how people connect?

I always thought silent discos were a gimmick, but that's a really smart use for a work event. Makes total sense that people could actually talk.

It's funny how the best solutions are often the simplest ones.

Honestly, we did a silent disco for our team last year and it was a game changer. Nancy475 is right, people actually talked more than they do at a loud bar.
