The debate over QR codes on event signage: useful tool or clutter magnet?
I was setting up for a trade show in Atlanta last March and realized I had been putting QR codes on every single sign for 2 years straight. Thought it was genius for driving traffic to our landing page. But then I watched a booth visitor literally ignore the code and ask a staffer for a brochure instead. It hit me that maybe I was just adding noise. Now I wonder if QR codes actually help engagement or just make signs look busy. What have you all seen work better at your events?

Yeah totally, QR codes feel more like busy decoration than actual useful info half the time.

Wow, you really think half of them are useless? That's actually a lot higher than I would have guessed, I thought maybe like 30 percent were just decorative noise. But thinking back to all the ones I've seen on menus and posters, you might be onto something with that number.

Right, "busy decoration more than useful info." That's exactly it. If people are ignoring them, what's the point? Is it a generational thing or just bad placement?
