Spotted something clever at a farmers market in Portland last weekend

I was at the Saturday market on Alberta Street, helping a friend run her jewelry booth. She had a little tablet showing a 30 second video of her making a necklace, and so many people stopped to watch it. It hit me that a short behind the scenes clip could work way better than a fancy booth setup for grabbing attention at events. Has anyone else tried video at their vendor table to draw people in?

Actually it's more like a short clip can distract people from even looking at your products.

Yeah, I feel that. It's like we put all this effort into making something good, and then a quick 15 second clip of someone unboxing a different product completely steals their attention. I've been noticing this more and more in my own feeds, where even if I'm interested in a product, seeing a flashy short video will totally derail me. It's frustrating because it feels like our hard work on product photos and descriptions just gets ignored. Your mileage may vary of course, but I've definitely had people comment on my stuff saying they got distracted by a reel and never came back. It's just the way attention works now, I guess, which is kind of a bummer.

Oh man, that's basically saying my entire booth setup is just background noise now, right? Next thing you know I'll have a tiny screen just looping me sleeping because apparently that's what captures attention these days. I guess we should all just give up and turn our tables into mini movie theaters.
