Saw an event planner use a paper notebook for lead capture at a conference last week

She was jotting down every attendee name and email by hand while everyone else scanned badges, and I figured she was just old school. Then she told me she had a 95% follow-up conversion rate because she wrote personal notes next to each contact. Has anyone else tried going analog to actually remember people better?

Hate to nitpick, but that 95% number sounds way too high for a follow-up conversion rate. Most sales folks would kill for even 40%. She might be counting "opened my email" as a conversion or only tracking the super engaged leads she wrote personal notes about. Still, the core point stands - writing things down by hand helps you remember way better than scanning a badge. Did she share what kind of notes she takes to make that personal touch work?

Flip that around though - what if she's only counting leads she actually got a meeting with and closed, which would make 95% way more realistic since she's cherry picking her best ones. Wouldn't that actually prove her method works better than anyone else's?
