PSA: That inflatable arch nearly took out a city council member at our festival
Last summer we rented this 30-foot inflatable arch for the entrance of our downtown street fair. A gust of wind came through around 2 PM and the thing tipped over, almost landing on Councilwoman Martinez as she walked by. We switched to heavy sandbags on every leg after that and now I double check the weather forecast every morning before setup. Has anyone else had a prop or structure go rogue on them mid event?

Same thing happened with our banner stand at a charity run, wind caught it and it flew straight into a vendor's tent.

You mentioned the wind caught your banner stand and it flew into a vendor's tent. I gotta push back on that a little though. Most of the time when banners fly off it's because people didn't properly anchor them down. I've seen it a hundred times at outdoor events where folks just set them up and hope for the best. A good sandbag or some stakes in the ground makes a huge difference. Not saying it's always your fault, but sometimes it's less about the wind and more about how we set things up.

Yeah but wasn't the vendor's tent anchored?
