My QR code check-in system crashed right as our big conference started

It was for a 300 person tech meetup in Austin last Thursday. The app we were using just froze at 8:45 AM, right when the line was forming. I had to grab a stack of paper forms and three clipboards from the supply closet to get people moving. Has anyone else had a tech fail like this and what backup plan worked for you?

Watched a livestream buffer during a product launch once.

Ugh that's the worst. Felt that pain before. Just sitting there staring at a frozen screen. All the hype dies right then. Makes the whole launch feel cheap somehow. Like they didn't care enough to get it right.

Seriously, how much does a frozen screen actually matter in the long run? It's just a minor tech hiccup, not some personal insult. People act like a launch glitch means the whole product is trash forever. The game or app either works fine later or it doesn't, but getting this upset over a temporary freeze seems like a huge overreaction.
