Had to pick between a big speaker or a panel for our launch event

Went with the panel of three local founders and it pulled a crowd of 300 people, way more than we expected. The Q&A part got really lively, which was the best part. Anyone else find panels work better than a single speaker for tech events?

Totally get that. A single speaker can feel like a lecture sometimes, you know? But a panel with different voices, especially local founders who people might know, just feels more like a real conversation. It gives the audience different angles to grab onto, which is probably why your Q&A went so well. Sounds like you made the right call for sure.

Interesting point. A panel can also lower the risk for the whole event. If one person isn't connecting with the crowd, the others can pick up the slack. A single speaker has to carry everything, and that's a lot of pressure. Your panel of local founders probably felt more relaxed, and that energy spreads to the audience.

But a single speaker can really dive deep into a topic without that back-and-forth chatter. Sometimes a focused talk is way more useful than a panel's surface-level chat.
