Can we talk about QR code check-ins at trade shows?

We set up a fancy QR code system for a tech conference in Denver last month, thinking it would speed things up. The line got so long because half the attendees had to dig through their email for the link. We ended up with a bigger bottleneck than the old paper list. Has anyone found a way to make this actually work without holding up the whole entrance?

Yeah, putting it on the ticket is a good idea... but the real problem is people not having it ready. We started having staff walk the line with big signs saying "Have your QR code open now." It cut the wait in half.

Actually, the QR code should be on their ticket, not in an email.
