The layer blend mode I was afraid to touch for 2 years

I finally tried the Soft Light blend mode on a portrait last month in Procreate and it fixed that flat, muddy skin tone look I kept seeing everyone else struggle with in the showcase threads, has anyone else had luck with it or is there a better trick?

Try stacking Soft Light over a Multiply layer at like 10 percent opacity? Did you have to mess with the brush opacity first or just slap it on and tweak from there?
