Overheard a guy at a coffee shop say digital art isn't 'real' art

I was grabbing a latte last Tuesday and this dude was telling his friend that because we use layers and undo buttons, it somehow doesn't count? lol. My latest piece took 14 hours across 3 days, so I'm pretty sure the effort is real. Has anyone else had to defend their tablet work to random strangers?

Roll my eyes so hard at gatekeepers like that. Effort is effort, no matter what tool you use.

I know a guy who spent 20 years learning to carve wood by hand. Real master craftsman. He told me using a CNC machine isn't the same kind of effort. It's a different skill set. One is about physical control and hours of muscle memory. The other is about software and precision setup. Just calling it all "effort" feels like it misses the point.
