My tablet pen died mid-livestream and I had to finish with a mouse

I was in the middle of a live demo for my art showcase last Tuesday, showing how I do highlights in Procreate. Right at the MOST important part, my Apple Pencil just DIED. No warning, no low battery popup, nothing. I had to grab my old mouse and finish the whole eye detail using that clunky thing on my desk. It looked SO messy but everyone in chat thought it was hilarious. Has anyone else had their gear fail at the worst possible moment?

Happened to me with my Wacom pen during a commission reveal. I was showing a client the final touches on their pet portrait and the pen just went completely dead. Had to finish the whiskers with a mouse and it looked like a toddler drew them. The client actually thought it was a "stylistic choice" thank goodness. Now I keep TWO spare pens charged and ready at all times.

Stylistic choice" has saved my hide more than once. 😄 But man, the panic of a dead pen during a live demo is real. I learned my lesson the hard way too.
