Yeah, comparing old work to something from last year is the real trick. It's easy to feel stuck day to day, but putting a full year between pieces shows the slow build of skill. I keep a folder of my own old art just for this. Opening it every few months is a gut check that proves I'm actually getting better, even when it doesn't feel like it. That visual proof is the only thing that shuts up the part of my brain saying I haven't improved at all.
