I finally stopped over-polishing my digital paintings last month
Has anyone else struggled with knowing when to stop cleaning up your art?

Oh man, that one hit me right in the feels. I used to spend hours zoomed in at 400% fixing brush strokes nobody would ever notice. It took me like three years to finally accept that a slightly messy edge or a dropped pixel just adds character to the piece. Now I set a timer for the detailed stuff and step back way sooner.

Is it really wasted effort though, @lewis.troy? I get the idea of loosening up but some of us find real peace in the tiny details. There's a difference between being a perfectionist and just wanting the piece to feel finished in your own head.

Honestly, "feeling finished in your own head" is the whole point, not a waste of time.
