Honestly just found out that the first digital art piece ever sold at auction went for $68,500 in 1996, which is wild to think about.

I was reading an old article about the 'Oscillation' piece by Joseph Nechvatal and it just seems crazy cheap now compared to current NFT prices, has anyone else stumbled on art history facts that made you do a double take?

That "crazy cheap" feeling hits hard. I remember when digital art was just files you shared for free. Seeing Beeple's NFT sell for millions last year made me dig into my own old hard drives. Found some early 2000s Photoshop pieces I made, and while they're not worth anything, it's a stark reminder of how fast the value perception changed. It makes that 1996 sale price look like finding a vintage toy at a garage sale.

Totally get what @joseph_torres means, feels like we missed a whole gold rush.

I used to think digital art was worthless, but @joseph_torres is right about how fast that changed.
