Frustrated with how showcases handle image files
I uploaded a high-res piece to a big art site and the fine lines turned into a mess. It's like they squeeze every image to save space, but it kills the artwork. I tried different formats like PNG and JPEG, but the result is always worse. Even after contacting support, they said it's standard practice. This makes my portfolio look unprofessional. I'm now double-checking each site's upload rules before posting. Share your tips if you've dealt with this too.

Ever feel like these sites are just playing a weird game of telephone with your art? They take your nice file and whisper it down the line until it's a blurry mess.

DeviantArt's compression blurred all my fine lines too. It's really frustrating when the details get lost like that.

Honestly, I've never really had that problem myself. The compression is there so images load fast for everyone, even on slow internet. It's a sharing site first, so some detail loss is just part of that deal. I always keep my original full-quality file safe on my own computer anyway. For me, the point is just getting the work out there for people to see the idea.
