Found out my 'authentic' medieval font was actually from a 90s video game
I was showing off my new fantasy map in a showcase Discord and someone zoomed in on the text, then casually dropped that the font was ripped straight from Diablo II. Checked the creator's page and yeah, zero credit given, which kinda ruined the whole vibe for me. Has anyone else had a font or asset you loved turn out to be totally not what you thought?

Oh man, that's rough. It really sucks when something you thought was cool ends up feeling fake like that.

Fonts seem to be the wild west of digital art. I've seen plenty of "vintage" brushes and textures that turned out to be scans from some random 80s catalog. It's a bummer because once you know where it's from, you can't unsee it, and it just feels like lazy work.

Wait, Diablo II? THAT Diablo II? I can't believe someone would pass off a video game font as "authentic medieval" and think nobody would catch it. @jana119 is right about how that kills the whole vibe once you know the truth, but honestly I think it's MORE embarrassing for the guy who tried to pass it off than for you.
