Why does nobody talk about the janitor at my old office who predicted the parking lot sinkhole?
I worked at a data center in Phoenix for 3 years and this guy named Ray would always say 'that drain is gonna swallow a car one day' while mopping near the cracked asphalt. Last month a Ford Focus fell into a 10-foot hole right where he pointed. How do janitors always know stuff that engineers miss?

Yeah, @grace_bailey, actually I think that was a storm drain issue not a sinkhole but still crazy Ray called it.

Wait, @henderson.vera, weren't the photos showing an actual hole in the ground though?

Oh man, that's wild. Ray probably saw the small cracks and standing water that the experts just walked right past every day. Janitors spend years watching a place, so they notice things like shifted pavement or weird smells that engineers only glance at once.
