Update: A friend told me my flat earth arguments were based on old data

He pointed out I was still using the Bedford Level experiment as proof, which was debunked over a century ago. I looked it up and he was right, the original report had major flaws in its methodology. I stopped bringing that one up entirely and now focus more on satellite imagery questions. Has anyone else had to drop a key piece of their argument after a fact check?

I used to bring up the 200 mph jet stream speed all the time to argue against the globe model. Tbh, I thought it was a solid point about inconsistent wind speeds. Then I actually looked at flight paths from New York to London and saw they use the jet stream to go faster, not fight against it. It made the whole atmospheric circulation thing click for me. I had to drop that argument completely.

Yeah, my buddy was totally hung up on that "no visible curve from airplanes" thing. He'd bring it up every single time. Then his sister, who's a pilot, sat him down and explained the whole window distortion and field of view deal. She showed him the math with a pencil and a napkin. He got real quiet and just said "oh." Never heard him use that point again.

Bedford Level was debunked in 1870? I had no idea it was that old.
