Pro tip: That week the local news ran the 'debunked' segment on the power grid was the worst for my job site.

We had three crews in Charlotte just stop work to argue about it for an hour, and I had to explain that yes, transformers can fail without a secret plot. Anyone else deal with a work stoppage over a conspiracy theory?

Yeah, anna_ross19 has a point about the billing. I always wonder if the guys pushing the theories are just looking for any excuse to stop working for a bit.

Did they at least clock out for their little debate club meeting? I'd have billed that hour to "team building, conspiracy theory division.

Got to push back a bit on the idea they're just avoiding work. Sometimes people get really deep into this stuff and actually believe it, which is way worse than being lazy. They're not taking a break, they're fully invested in nonsense and it eats up real mental energy. That makes it harder to pull them back to actual tasks than if they were just slacking off.
