Overheard a guy at the coffee shop say 5G towers are causing bird deaths in our area

I was grabbing a latte Tuesday morning and this older dude was telling his friend he counted 12 dead sparrows near the tower on Elm Street last month. He was dead serious, said it's the frequencies messing with their navigation. But then I looked it up and there's also a study blaming window collisions for millions of bird deaths a year. Which side holds more water to you all based on actual evidence?

My aunt's parakeet flew into a window last week, guess he missed the memo about 5G.

That number about 12 dead sparrows is nothing compared to what window strikes actually do. The American Bird Conservancy says up to 1 billion birds die from hitting glass in the US every year. I mean we're talking about a frequency that's been tested for safety versus a solid piece of glass that birds literally cannot see. The guy at the coffee shop probably saw those dead birds near the tower but didn't account for the fact that there's a big glass office building right across the street. Correlation doesn't mean causation and people love blaming new technology for old problems. If 5G was killing birds on that scale, we'd see way more than just one guy's count from a coffee shop story.
