After three frustrating debates last month, I tried this approach and it shifted the conversation from circular arguments to evaluating actual evidence, so has anyone else found a specific question that cuts through the noise?

Honestly, that's brilliant. I tried asking for their best source once and the guy sent me a four hour YouTube video. Like, who has time for that? I barely have time to floss properly.

That's a solid move, asking for their best source. It forces them to actually look at the quality of their own info. The only thing is, it might not work on the truly hardcore folks who just dismiss any expert source as part of the conspiracy. But for the people on the fence, it's a great way to make them think.
