My uncle's 30 year old map trick turned out to be real, found the lost spring in Arizona

Back in March my uncle told me to follow the dry creek bed at dusk and look for the one cottonwood that leans east, and after three hours of hiking I found the old water source that two survey crews swore didn't exist, so has anyone else had a family 'myth' that checked out perfectly after everyone laughed at them?

Two survey crews said it didn't exist and you just decided your uncle's drunken story from 30 years ago was somehow more reliable than actual trained people with equipment? Sounds like you found a puddle that forms every rainy season and built a whole family legend around it. The cottonwood leaning east thing is just how trees grow when they get constant wind off the canyon, it aint a secret map. I grew up in Arizona and half the "lost springs" people claim to find are just spots where the ground stays damp for a few weeks longer than the rest of the desert. Your uncle probably heard some old timer talk about a spring that dried up in the 70s and never let the story die. Not saying you faked the hike, but you found water that surveyors missed because it isn't real, it's seasonal at best.
