My brother-in-law said something about the moon landing that stuck with me

We were at a family cookout in Toledo last weekend and he just said, 'You know, the real conspiracy is that we all just accept the official story without asking who benefits from us not looking deeper.' It wasn't about the tech or the flags, but about the idea of trust itself. That hit different because he's usually the most skeptical guy in the room about everything. Made me wonder if we focus too much on the 'what' and not enough on the 'why' behind these stories. Has anyone had a simple comment shift how you approach a whole topic?

But what if asking "who benefits" is just another way to get lost? Sometimes a story is just a story, and looking for a deeper reason behind everything can make you trust nothing at all.

Totally get what you mean about how looking for a deeper reason can make you trust nothing. I fell down that rabbit hole last year, questioning every news article and even my friends' stories. It just left me feeling super alone and suspicious of everyone. Sometimes a story is just a story, and accepting that feels a lot more peaceful. You can drive yourself crazy trying to find the hidden angle on every little thing.

Actually it's not about asking who benefits, that's a basic question. The real trap is when you start seeing hidden motives in everything, even when there's no proof. You can question a big news story without doubting your friend's story about their lunch. Finding a balance is key, otherwise you just end up paranoid and miserable.
