I tried to debunk a flat earth video and ended up down a weird rabbit hole
So last week, I saw this video on my feed about how airplane flight paths prove the earth is flat. I figured it would be an easy debunk, you know? I pulled up a real flight tracker site and spent about an hour mapping a route from Santiago to Sydney. The flat earth model said it should be impossible or take a crazy path. But when I checked actual flight data, the route made perfect sense on a globe. The weird part was, when I went back to the video's comments to post my findings, I got hit with a wave of replies saying the flight data sites are part of the cover-up. One guy even said, 'They control all the data, you only see what they want you to see.' It wasn't about the evidence anymore, it was about dismissing any source that didn't agree with them. I learned that for some theories, the goalposts just keep moving. Has anyone else tried to use a specific piece of evidence in a debate, only to have it completely dismissed like that?

But you're just taking the data at face value. If they control the flight tracking sites, of course it's gonna show what they want. You gotta look at the raw info, not the stuff they feed you.

Felt that. Tried showing someone satellite photos once and got told they're all CGI. At a certain point you realize they're not looking for proof, they're looking for reasons to ignore it.
