Gas station hot dog looked the same for 8 hours straight, now I question everything

I was on a road trip through rural Ohio last month and stopped at a Shell station around 11am. Their hot dogs on the roller grill looked pretty sad but normal. On my way back through the same spot at 7pm, the exact same hot dogs were still spinning. Same color, same shine, same everything. How is that even possible without them turning into leather or growing some kind of science experiment? Has anyone else caught a gas station roller grill stuck in a time loop?

Is it possible they just seasoned those things with some kind of industrial preservative that keeps them looking fresh even after a full day of spinning? I've seen roller grill hot dogs at sketchy truck stops that looked exactly like that, just eternally turning with a plastic sheen. The real question is if they ever actually get eaten, or if they just become permanent decoration for the store.

Roller dogs at that one Pilot off I-40 in Tennessee looked like they'd been turning since 2005. First thing I'd do if I was running that store is check the "use by" on the package, because those things are just sitting in their own juices forever. You season them once with that paprika-salt mix and they'll hold that color for a full shift, but after 12 hours they're basically rubber. Honestly it's probably just old stock that nobody wants to throw away, but they keep spinning it because it fills the space.
