Drove through Roswell, New Mexico last month...
Stopped at that little UFO museum on Main Street for a coffee break. Place was packed with folks taking photos of the same old crash site diagrams. What got me was how quiet the older locals got when I asked if they remembered 1947. One guy just pointed at the sky and walked off. Anyone else get that vibe out there?

The older locals probably get asked about 1947 a hundred times a week. That guy pointing at the sky might have just been tired of the question or playing along with the whole tourist thing. I've been through Roswell a few times and the museum feels more like a roadside attraction than anything serious. Most folks there are just having fun with the mystery, not actually hiding some big secret. Could be that quietness is just small town manners, not a sign of anything deeper.

Aw man, I gotta push back a little on the museum being "more like a roadside attraction thing." You gotta actually GO to the International UFO Museum to see the difference. It's NOT some cheesy gift shop with cardboard aliens. They've got genuine declassified docs, and the vibe is way more serious than you'd expect. The locals actually run it, and they're super respectful about keeping the history straight, not just cashing in on tourists. I'd say it's more like a real research spot that happens to be in a small town, not the other way around.
