DAE see all the new cameras and wonder if safety is just the cover story?

My town just installed a bunch of surveillance cameras on main roads and in public spots. On one hand, the city says it's to cut down on crime and help in emergencies. On the other hand, I've heard people say it's a slow move towards total watch, where every move is logged. Like, the grocery store parking lot got three new ones last month, and now some folks avoid it. I'm stuck between liking the idea of safer streets and fretting over who gets to see all that video. What's your take on this push for more cameras everywhere?

Believed cameras were fine until I noticed one tracking my walk home... felt weird being watched.

How often does it track you on that route?

My friend Mike had his car broken into last month in a mall lot. Those new cameras got a perfect shot of the guy's face, and cops arrested him two days later. Mike is happy they caught the thief but now feels uneasy knowing his every trip to the store is recorded. Makes the whole safety thing feel more complicated.
