Counted 14 cameras on one block in Nashville and now I can't unsee them
So I was walking around downtown Nashville last Saturday killing time before a concert, and I started actually looking at the buildings instead of my phone. In one single block near Broadway I counted 14 security cameras, and that's not even counting the little doorbell ones on the shops. Three of them were mounted on the same light pole pointing different ways. What got me was how many were the new ones with the little AI tracking boxes, you can tell by the housing shape. I started asking the barista at a coffee spot about it and she said the city added a bunch after some big events downtown, but she had no clue who actually watches the footage or where it goes. Now I'm wondering if this is just normal city stuff or if there's a real debate here about who owns all that video. Has anyone else actually counted cameras in their own city, or am I the only weirdo doing this on a Saturday?
