Appreciation post: My brother's take on the moon landing finally got through to me
We were just grilling last Sunday and he said, 'Look, even if it was fake, the tech to fake it in 1969 would have been a bigger secret than the real thing.' That hit different... it wasn't about proving him wrong, but about the scale of the cover-up needed. I'd been stuck on the flag waving for years. Has anyone else had a simple point flip a whole theory for them?

The thing about the tech is it ignores the other side. The Soviets had the ability to track the mission with their own gear. They would have known if the signals were coming from Earth. For them to go along with a fake, during the Cold War, makes less sense than the landing itself. Your brother's point is clever, but it only looks at one piece.

Exactly. @the_adam nails it with the Soviet point. They had ships in the Atlantic listening for the Apollo signals, and a whole network of antennas. If the feed was fake, their scientists would have called it out instantly. They had every reason to expose a hoax and humiliate the US. The fact they never did, and even confirmed the mission data themselves, is the biggest proof. It wasn't just one thing, it was a whole system checking another system.
