A spreadsheet at 2AM showed me 3 accounts posting the exact same wildfire map in 11 minutes
I was in the r/conspiracy new queue around 2AM on a Wednesday when I noticed a wildfire evacuation map from Cal Fire getting posted by 3 different accounts within 11 minutes, all with nearly word for word the same caption. I pulled the timestamps into a spreadsheet and saw the accounts were created 6 days apart and only posted fire and FEMA stuff. I screenshotted everything and messaged the mods, and 2 of the 3 got banned within the hour, but the original post still has like 4k upvotes. Has anyone else tracked a post cluster like this and is there a better way to log it than just screenshots?
Did the 3 accounts share any links in their captions or just the raw image? That's usually the tell, same bitly or same weird domain. Also curious if you checked the account karma history, sometimes these bot farms post one thing then go quiet for months before the next cluster. Screenshots work but a simple Google Sheet with account name, post time, caption, and link gets you patterns faster than images.
