Tried self-taught vs bootcamp for Python and the bootcamp destroyed my progress in half the time
After spending 4 months on YouTube tutorials getting nowhere fast, I dropped $500 on a live bootcamp and built my first working app in just 6 weeks - has anyone else noticed structured courses are way more effective than piecing stuff together alone?

Dead on @nancybailey, the structure and having someone to unstick you is the whole game. Same thing happened to me with Python, wasted months on tutorials then a month long bootcamp had me actually building stuff.

oh man, the YouTube rabbit hole is a total trap. i did the same thing with JavaScript - spent months bouncing from one "beginner friendly" tutorial to another and couldn't even make a basic calculator work. then i took a structured class through my local community college and had a working todo app in like 3 weeks. the difference is wild because someone's actually showing you what to do step by step instead of just dumping info on you. plus having deadlines and someone to ask questions to makes all the difference when you get stuck on stupid stuff like syntax errors.
