That guy who told me to skip tutorials and just build stuff was mostly wrong

I kept hearing from this dude on a Discord server that watching tutorials is a waste of time and you should just jump into projects. So I tried building a simple to-do app with zero prep and spent 4 hours stuck on a basic JavaScript loop I could have learned in 10 minutes with a video. Tutorials aren't the enemy, they're like blueprints before you start cutting wood. Has anyone else found that a mix of both works way better than going all in on one approach?

My buddy tried teaching himself guitar by just playing songs and spent 3 months with terrible technique he had to unlearn later. Tutorials are just the same as having someone show you which way the hammer swings before you start nailing.

Gave myself a month of just basic chord drills before touching any actual songs, @jesse994, and it saved me from the same loop your buddy went through.
