Finally got my form to submit after 3 days of console logging

I was sitting at my kitchen table in Pittsburgh on Saturday night, staring at a contact form that kept wiping everything on submit. Turns out I had the button inside the form but without type='button', so it was triggering a page reload. Added that one attribute and it worked instantly. My console was full of undefined values the whole time, I felt so dumb. Has anyone else fought a tiny HTML detail for way longer than it should take?

Weird part is the browser won't tell you that's the problem. DevTools just shows the page reloaded like it's your own fault.
