Went back to my hometown creek after 15 years and the water level is gone

I visited that little swimming hole near my folks' place in Illinois last weekend and the water level dropped a good 3 feet since I was a kid. Has anyone else seen a spot they used to love dry up like that?

Did you notice if the creek banks looked different too? I went back to a swimming hole I loved as a kid in Missouri and the whole bottom was cracked mud. It was a good 4 feet lower than I remembered. My dad said they built a bunch of new houses upstream and probably pulled too much water out. It's crazy how fast a place can change when nobody's watching. Makes me wonder if the fish all died or if they moved somewhere else.

@lane.cameron fish usually move downstream when water drops, but some get trapped in pools and die.
