The week my neighbor and I finally got our street to try a 'no mow May'
It was last spring, and I convinced the guy next door to leave his lawnmower in the shed for the whole month. By the second week, we had five other houses on our block in Ohio joining in. The best part was seeing all the clover and little flowers popping up where there was just plain grass before. Has anyone else tried something like this and did you get any pushback from a homeowners' association?

Our HOA sent a warning letter by the third week. They cited a rule about "weeds over eight inches." We had to point out the clover and violets were barely four inches tall. It turned into a whole thing with the board, but they backed off after a neighborhood meeting. Now there's a new rule about "managed natural areas.

Honestly, eight inches? That's wild. They were really out there with a ruler measuring your clover? Tbh that feels so over the top. I'd be fuming if someone came onto my property with that kind of energy over some violets. What a nightmare to deal with.
