The creek behind my house looks completely different now
When I moved here in 2018, the creek was mostly dry and choked with trash. Our neighborhood group organized cleanups and planted native shrubs along the banks, and after about three years, the water flows all year and we see birds again. Has anyone else seen a local spot come back to life like this?

That's awesome to see. Feels like more people are actually fixing up local spots instead of just complaining about them.

Saw a story about neighbors in my old town who got together to clean out a creek behind their houses. They pulled out shopping carts and old tires, planted some native flowers along the bank. It took a few weekends but now kids actually play there again.

Love seeing stuff like this. Gotta point out though @blairtaylor, those shopping carts and tires didn't just appear. That's years of people treating the place like a dump. The real win is the neighbors deciding it's THEIR space to fix. Planting native stuff is key, keeps it good without constant work. Makes me wonder what spot near me needs that kind of push.
