That old lady on the bus in Portland made me rethink my commute
Back in 2019 I was griping on the MAX about the 2 hour round trip to work, and this woman in her 70s pipes up saying she rode her bike 15 miles each way for 20 years. She pointed out the bus I was on still burns diesel, and I couldn't argue with her math. I switched to a hybrid carpool route with two coworkers a month later, and the gas cost went from $140 down to about $45 a week. Anyone else get a practical nudge from a stranger that actually stuck?
