Spent $80 on a 'smart' thermostat that tried to cool my house to 50 degrees

It went haywire during a heatwave and ran the AC nonstop for 12 hours straight. My power bill jumped by like $60 that week, which kind of defeats the whole energy-saving point lol. Anyone else have a gadget that was supposed to help but just made things worse?

Twice is rough, my dumb lock just asks me if I'm sure I live here every single time.

Maybe the lock is onto something. It could be a good security feature, making sure no one just walks in without a second thought. Having to confirm you belong there adds a real layer of safety, doesn't it? A little annoyance seems like a fair trade for that.
