Co-ops sound great until the installer ghosts you and you're stuck fixing someone else's mess.

Wait, have you actually dealt with that before? My buddy Tom went all in with a local co-op for his whole house solar setup, paid half upfront which felt like a lot but the pitch was solid. Four weeks in, the guy stops answering texts and the crew just stops showing up, leaving panels stacked in the driveway and a hole in the roof. Tom spent the next two months calling other electricians to finish the job, and one of them told him the wiring was so sketchy it was a fire risk. He finally got it working but paid almost double what the co-op quote said, and now he tells everyone to just find a licensed contractor with a real office you can actually visit if something goes wrong.
