Just realized my daily coffee habit adds up to 365 disposable cups a year
I was cleaning out my car last weekend and counted 12 empty paper cups from the coffee shop near my office in Arden Hills. Did the math and that's like $180 a year in drinks plus all that waste going to the landfill. Been using a thermos for two weeks now and it feels weirdly satisfying not tossing a cup every morning. Anyone else made the switch and stuck with it?

Honestly, I've been thinking about this too because it's not just the cups, it's the whole "convenience" mindset we all fall into. Once I started paying attention, I noticed I was grabbing plastic bags for everything at the grocery store too, even for one item. It's like we've been trained to take the easy path without noticing how much little stuff piles up. The thermos thing is a good start though, it's surprising how fast you get used to it and actually feel weird when you don't bring it.

Isn't it wild how once you start noticing one thing, you see it everywhere? @nathanj56, that plastic bag thing really hits home, I catch myself doing it too and have to literally stop and put the bag back. It helps to just keep a couple of those reusable bags stuffed in my jacket pocket so I don't have to think about it.
