Wasted $600 on a mover who ghosted me on moving day
Booked this small moving company off Craigslist for my Uptown to Logan Square move last Saturday, paid a $600 deposit upfront. They never showed up, phone disconnected by noon, and I had to scramble for a U-Haul at double the price. Anyone else get burned by unlicensed movers in this city?

Read that Better Business Bureau report says half those Craigslist movers vanish.

$600 is a brutal loss, man. I've noticed a pattern where people hand over big deposits to anyone with a truck and a Craigslist ad because they're desperate or think a company name makes them legit. It's the same with handymen or even dog walkers in this city, everyone wants cash upfront but the real pros usually take payment after the job is done. Did they have a physical address or just a P.O. box on their paperwork?
