Took me three trips to get the right parking permit for my U-Haul in Lincoln Park
Moved to Chicago last month and thought I had everything figured out. I grabbed a residential parking permit from the city website, no problem. But what I didn't realize is that moving trucks need a special oversized vehicle permit that costs extra. I parked my U-Haul on the street day one and got a $65 ticket within two hours. It took me three separate trips to the DMV and two phone calls to actually get the right paperwork sorted out. Has anyone else run into surprise permit fees when moving here?

Yeah that oversized vehicle permit thing got me too when I moved my stuff into Logan Square. I found it way easier to just call the alderman's office directly instead of dealing with the DMV website, they walked me through everything in like five minutes. Saved me a bunch of frustration and another ticket for sure.

And what did the alderman's office actually ask you for... like proof of address or what?
